What’s Wrong With What I Believe?

Published on
April 13, 2024

One of the most common questions from believers when challenged by skeptics is… “What harm am I doing by believing what I believe?” What difference does it make what I believe anyway? Am I wrong for believing in god/Jesus/Allah etc? I’m not harming or bothering anyone, I’m a law-abiding citizen, I pay my taxes so why are you concerned with what I believe? I’m minding my own business so why does my faith matter to you? As non-believers, we have to admit that they do have a point. If we’re not directly being affected, why should anyone’s faith matter to us?

We are all interconnected. Our thoughts are forms of energy and manifest into matter. The law of attraction states… that which is likened unto itself is attracted. We attract those who believe the same things but promoting beliefs based on misinformation, irrationality, illogic and evidence lacking faith, spreads like a disease and helps manifest a world full of superstition and ignorance.

Wherever there is dependence upon what we perceive as divine, there is always the potential for extremism. Other than mosquitoes, nothing in the history of the world has caused more humans to die than religion. In the name of our various faiths we kill, harm, threaten, refuse medicine etc. And in struggling or dependent communities, naively pour ten-percent into churches that add nothing to the economics of the area. “My god is more powerful…” “My book is truer…” “My faith or religion is righter than yours…” contests exist all over the world, creating  So yes, what you believe does matter.

Imagine if we all believed that the only way to cure a disease was to rely on supernatural intervention. Countless of people would die unnecessarily because of this profound ignorance. Incredibly, people still believe this. Religion, faith, blind belief etc., are insidious things. They appear to be harmless but ignorance, delusion and superstition can be dangerous and like a virus, we are infecting others.

God conflicts between countries like Israel, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and more, are putting us all in danger. Subscribing to imaginary gods, expecting divine intervention and believing we are being watched and judged are not harmless things; they have consequences. It’s like a world full of inactive volcanoes that are minding their own business but possess the threat of erupting. Abandoning our superstitions makes us less volatile and gullible.
